Screwed

'Plink, clatter..... ' and the tiny screw was gone. I had been trying to insert the damn thing into the new light fixture Mark had bought for my office when it leapt out of my fingers, and in slow motion, plummeted to the floor. I thought that I had a very good idea of it's trajectory, but after twenty minutes of searching I still have not found the little Chinese bastard. Yes, it's the curse of stuff made in China again. Looking at the lovely photo on the package it came in, you'd think installing this new fixture would be so simple. But no, once you break the box open, count all the parts, and read the instructions, it became quite obvious that you had to be a contortionist, an electronic genius, and you would need to understand the Chinese mind to put this thing up. So I've given up for today. I'm going into the living room, pouring myself a gigantic vodka cocktail, and hope that the miniscule screw crawls out of it's hiding place before morning.

  1. Don't worry, if your dogs are like mine is, they will find it and you can check their poop in a day or so! I was just lucky that ZOE only chewed on my prosthetic eye and decided not to swallow it!

  2. walk around in your bare feet. Its in your blood. If you're not stubbing your toe you're bound to step on something that will allow that perfect symphony of curse words to come flowing out.And with that humid Florida weather that little sucker should stick right to the bottom of your foot.

  3. My feet are so sensitive that I can't walk around barefoot. The tiniest grain of sand feels like a boulder to me. Besides, there is so much crap on the floor right now I'd have it all on my feet.

As for digging through dog crap, I'll force another screw I have handy to do the job before I'll do that.

  4. You buy things from China. How anti American worker of you. I would have bought from a nice used lamp from Poverello Thrift Store or at least purchased one that was Made in America. Come on... it is decisions like yours that are putting American workers out of work. We all need to be vigilant about buying American Made in U.S.A. Keep the money and jobs here.
