Tuffy

This is Tuffy. Tuffy is very excited because his family is moving to Chicago. What Tuffy doesn't know is that he isn't going with them. They are leaving him behind. I have babysat Tuffy before, for ten days at a time. He is the sweetest, most affectionate guy you could want. He is fully house broken and crate trained. He also only has three legs, and I am afraid if animal control gets a hold of him he will be put down. If you have room for a dog like this in your home leave me a message at contactalanworld@gmail.com.

  1. Sh*t Alan...now you've got me worried. What are Tuffy's chances. When does the family leave. Why in God's name are they leaving their family pet behind?! This story has broken thru my tough exterior to my soft mushy inside.

  2. They are moving out at the end of March. They are trying to find a home for him, but it's very difficult. Just volunteering at Abandoned Pet Rescue I see how many homeless pets there are. APR is full, overly full, so they cannot take him. Chandler loves Tuffy, but Bette is kind of a bitch around him, and I don't want to become a dog hoarder. It will all come down to the day they pack up and leave. We still have cats wandering our neighborhood because of renters who move and leave them behind.

  3. Oh Alan I can't stand this! Why can't they take him? How can anyone leave a member of their family behind? If they don't find a home you and Mark will have to take him in until you can find someone. You have too. He looks as sweet as you say he is. I would offer but there is no way our dog would let us have another animal in the house. Oh I can't stand it . . . . . . .

  4. When they move to Chicago they will both be working for the same company and have to travel two weeks per month. That is the story I have.

  5. Oh my God.

I will repost this on FB.

I don't know anyone in Florida but maybe someone somewhere will help this guy out.

  6. We could ship him to the UK. Peri and Pickles I'm sure would like a tripod friend.

  8. If the owners both are working they can afford a dog sitter in Chicago, there are lots of folks who only do dog walking and surely could be hired for the times they might be away. I've seen someone in our neighborhood walking a three legged dog and it does quite well. (Haven't seen em lately in this cold, but I really don't get out much.)

They should really consider keeping Tuffy and taking care of him. Hope something works out so he is not abandoned.

  9. Saw this on Kim's blog.I cannot take him (Australia has the toughest import laws and quarantine) but will put the message out to folks I know in USA. Best of luck, Tripod!

  11. The current owners do not deserve this dog. Hopefully a forever family will be found for him. Shame on them. Hopefully they don't have any kids.

  12. Circumstances change. They were good enough to take care of a disabled dog all this time; maybe you all shouldn't be so quick to malign them.

  13. Anonymous how do you know they were good enough to take care of a disabled dog all this time? If a person adopts a dog, it's a life long commitment. It's like having a child, not disposable when it doesn't fit into their plans.

  14. To be fair, they did save this dog. They are the ones who found it on the highway, took it to the vet, and paid for all the health care Tuffy got. Like one of the commentators said, situations change for some people. I would like to think that I would never, ever, give up my dogs. But, I did just that twice when I was in my early twenties. I guess I am trying to make up for my failures earlier in my life.
