  1. May 2,1923-March 27,2000.Safely Home. I'm home in heaven, dear ones, Oh, so happy and bright. There is perfect joy and beauty in this everlasting light. All the pain and grief is over, every restless tossing passed; I am now at peace forever, safely home in heaven at last. There is stil work for you, so you must not idly stand;Do it now while life remainth-You shall rest in God's own land. When that work is all completed, He will gently call you Home. Oh, the rapture of that meeting, Oh, the joy to see you Home!

  2. Do you think he gets to watch all the Bears games from that big recliner in the sky?

  3. Your pictures brought a tear to my eyes. I sure miss my dad, he was one of a kind. So many have so much negative to say about their parents and the only thing I can say is they left us way too early. I'm sure my dad would be planning a golf outing for father's day. Happy Father's Day to all you dads out there!!!

  4. He may have spent some time with Walter Payton. If you can look forward to death, that was one thing he wanted to do, look up Walter Payton.

  8. That first quote was way too sappy for the Big Al we knew....not enough "F"-words in it!!!

  9. It is the prayer that was placed on his Holy Card which was passed out at his wake. Either he or mom had something to do with the prayer.Anonymous need to get past the F--- word.

  10. Oh, F***! Not controversy about this one. Dad did say F*** a lot. That was one of his endearing qualities, his cursing, which most of us have inherited.
Let's remember instead, how we used to climb all over him when we were tiny children, like he was a playground toy.

  11. I believe the funeral home had more to do with the prayer. I enjoy remembering Big Al's colorful language--I don't have to get past it!

  12. Anonymous 4 let me help you, I have recently gone through this.It is true that the funeral home has something to do with it, yes, printing up stock Holy Cards. However, there may be 4 different verses which you can pick from. For example: Safely home is my favorite. There is the 23rd Psalm, the Lord is my Shepard. You may also choose Ellen Brennemen's Her(His) journey has just begun. Don't think of her(him) as gone away. Those who pre-plan can pick out their favorite prayer, there is nothing sappy about it. You need to read the prayer again, it is beautiful. He is talking to his children and wife from heaven. He was in so much pain and grief. It is over with, no more suffering. What does he say to you, you have life, please don't waste it, for you will be called home too soon.Dad can't wait for the reunion. It will be joyful. You need faith and hope for this prayer to work for you.
