And That's the Way It is

Last night was the first time I can remember consciously deciding to not watch the evening news. I have at times missed it because of being unaware of the time, but mostly I miss it if I have other, better things to do. Watching the network evening news has been a habit of mine since I was thirteen years old, ever since the assassination of President Kennedy. I like that it gives a capsulated snapshot of what is considered important that day. But I didn't care what they thought was important yesterday, and I may not care tomorrow. All I need to do is listen to the non-stop rant of Mark, in his high pitched squeaky voice, to know what is happening. Mostly his rants are about that thing that happened on Tuesday. I was so looking forward to never hearing about that man again, looking forward to his face and voice being off of my television. Instead, he is now guaranteed to be there for the next four years. So yesterday I used the network news time to catch up on some of my recorded shows. Specifically, I watched an episode of Elementary from two Sundays ago. Well goddamnitsonofabitch, there they were again. Wall to wall political ads between every break in the show. I had forgot that they would also be recorded. Thank goodness for fast forward. Now if I could only fast forward Mark to a point where he can drop the bitching and moaning about the end of the world as we know it.
