Looking Forward to Wednesday

Here are a few things that I am looking forward to on Wednesday. First, the removal of political signs from my neighbor's lawns. Sure, Chandler has become quite comfortable peeing on each and every one he passes on his walkies, but he'll get over it. It isn't that much further to the fire hydrant. I'll be able to watch television without every bit of commercial time dedicated to political ads where people say the most vile lies about each other. In not one of these commercials have I seen a political candidate say what he will actually do to us, only how the other guy is the spawn of the devil, and he won't be. And then there are the phone calls, the unrelenting recorded phone calls. These people are too chicken shit to actually talk to you live. They know that ninety nine percent of the people they are bothering at dinner time are going to simply tell them to fuck off and hang up. So they use a recorded lie. I still tell them to fuck off, and hang up. I just don't get any real satisfaction out of it. Finally, on Wednesday I am looking forward to seventy five cent drink night at Matty's on the Drive. Not because I would drink whatever swill Matty's serves for only seventy five cents. No, I'm sure it's rot gut. I will be happy because Mark will be up there until closing, and I'll be home alone, all comfy in my big recliner chair with a cocktail. And, I'll have what I want to watch on television without Mark constantly interrupting my program to bitch about politics.

  1. Oh. Gawd. As you know, I'm here in Michigan and I can't get out of here fast enough. I have taken no less than 9 phone calls from Republicans in the past 24 hours. Plus, I've had to listen to some of my crazy relatives (who seem to be VERY opinionated about Benghazi for some reason). I almost (almost) don't care who wins tomorrow. I just want it to be over. Good luck, Alan. And enjoy Wednesday.

  2. I have received sixteen campaign phone calls today alone. As for your opinionated relatives, Benghazi has been a drum beat on Fox News since September eleventh. Fox seems to want their slavish audience to believe that the Kenyan, socialist other, who has stolen their country from them, somehow has conspired with al-Qaeda to kill our ambassador in Libya. Say hello to the Queen for me when you get back... you know, Graham Norton.

  3. It should be like high school student council. If your signs aren't down the day after the election, you forfeit. Plus you have to sit alone at lunch.

  4. I would have loved to put an Obama sign in my yard, but when you live in the reddest and most racist state in the union (Louisiana), which has only one democrat in state office, you would be risking someone burning your house down. I haven't even seen an Obama sign here.

  5. I actually DID get a live politician call....and it was a breath of fresh air! She was asking what MY concerns were and we chatted for quite a while. I then went online to look her up and found out that I actually liked what I read so I emailed her and let her know she had my vote. Of course it helps that she is a Dem in this very Repub county.....I always vote all Dem just to try and get an equality in the County government!

  6. I too am tired of looking at yard signs getting political phone calls, talking about drag queens, cocks, frocks, mascara, and bloody Abba!
