Bacon, Eggs, and Eyeballs

By the time you read this I will probably already be in surgery, or done with it. Early Monday morning Mark is driving me up to Boca Raton for eye surgery. This will be the fourth time I've had surgery on my eyes, twice on each one. I have glaucoma, which causes blindness that cannot be reversed. All they can do is retard, or hold in place, the damage to the eyes. The first surgery on my left eye consisted of cutting a small opening, or bleb as they call it, in the top of my eyeball. This would alleviate the inner eye pressure and help prevent any more damage to the optical nerves. I swear that they screwed that operation up, and the fact that they have to go in and repair what they did some ten years ago I think proves it. Anyway, I thought it might be interesting to see just what they will be doing to me. The scar tissue from the first surgery has attached itself to the cornea, which has made my eye misshapen, and causes me to see shadows on everything I look at. What the doctor plans to do is cut the scar tissue away from the cornea with hopes that my  vision will improve. No more blurry shadows. At first I asked Mark to take a photo of my eyeball. He screamed in horror at the thought of this. It seems that Mark is afraid of eyeballs (Take note Peggy in case you ever have to deal with him.), and just looking closely at one makes him gag. Weird, isn't it? So I took the camera into the bathroom, and with the help of the mirror I was able to snap off a couple of shots. If you notice, the milky white substance at the top of the cornea is scar tissue. I posted the second photo just to give a better look. I hope you all enjoy the photos, and that none of you were eating breakfast when you looked at them.
