I've been researching moving companies. My friend, Dennis, told me that he used moving companies twice when moving cross country. He said that it was easy, and that he had no problems with the moving companies that he used. He also said that he might have been lucky. I don't know, I don't really want to count on luck. So here are some of the complaints I've seen in reviews.
- "This company,
Name withheld, let's just say, is a piss pot."
- "I find it hard to believe that only our most valuable items were 'accidentally' lost."
- "They loaded our boxes marked fragile at the bottom of 15' stacks where they were immediately crushed!"
- "The driver was drunk. He reeked of booze and cigarette-nasty."
- "I have video of my resin
Disney statues, showing
Name withheldworkers unwrapping broken statutes that Name withheld'professionally' packed."
One thing I noticed in many, many reviews is that the actual cost of the move almost always exceeds the original estimate, and by a lot. So now I am going to look into renting a one way truck from U-Haul or someplace like that. I'll hire some cheap labor (lot's of it here in Florida) to load it, hitch the car up to it on one of those towing devices, and we will move ourselves at half the cost. What could go wrong? The only problem I can see with this plan is Mark. He can't even parallel park the PT Cruiser.
