Photo Friday

Out of all the cars I have owned over the years, the one I am most sorry that I let get away was this one. It is a 1962 Studebaker GT Hawk. I bought this car in Oakland California, and drove it across country to Chicago in December 1978. It had a 289 V8 (Studebaker not Ford), factory bucket seats, factory Hurst four speed shifter, and I hit 110 mph on I-80 in Nevada. It wasn't the fastest car I ever had, but I just loved it.

So what car do you wish you had back?

  3. I still haven't bought the car I'll miss..... However I do miss your 1935 Studebaker , the 55 President, I liked the old Willys Jeep that never ran right, that 62 Ford was great especially up and down hills.I really appreciated that Rambler wagon that seemed to have too much chrome.

  4. My first car that i wish I still owned was a 1973 4 cylinder Chevy Vega hatchback with automatic tranny. Ahh....the memories in that car.......I remember packing it full with nine friends (it only sat four) 3 in front, 4 in rear, 2 laying down sideways in the hatch area all passing around a dubie while driving to the airport to watch the planes take off and land at Ohare Airport...and no I didn't partake of the dub although the windows were all rolled up. Do that count?

  5. Gary, I enjoyed all those cars, even the Rambler, but the one I enjoyed driving the most was the '62 Hawk. Garet...ooops, I mean anonymous, we don't believe you didn't inhale.

  6. I was always sorry we got rid of the '67 Cougar that Rick had when I met him. It was the first car I really got to drive, he let me use it when he went on a fishing trip just weeks after we met! 16 years ago we found her clone, and Daisy2 is still fun to drive!

  7. I wish I had my 1970 Dodge Challenger - the new ones look like fun, but the 1970 was my first new car. I really miss my muscle car - 1980 Chevy Camero Z, and my 280Z, and the Lincoln Mark 7,and my Dodge truck, and my Maxima - oh I guess I really liked every car I ever owned, except the Corvette - piece of crap. I even had a bright Green Gremlin - 6cyl really fast, and others. I have a wish list too, but that is even longer!

  10. Alan, I forgot about the NASCAR race car that I got to use for two days in Atlanta back in 1991!! That was toooo much fun. By the way Don wanted me to tell you he had 1956 Golden Hawk and a 1957 Silver Hawk - those were his cars he wishes he had. He also raced 1954 Studebacker Sunsometing?? and a 1961 Karmann Ghia out at Raceway Park. All time favorite was his 57 Buick Convert!! Thanks for taking us down memory lane! Love ya

  11. Don probably raced a 1954 Starliner or Starlite. One was a hardtop coupe, the other had a pillar, but was basically the same. Both were low slung, sleek beauties.
