I often wonder where we got our interest in cars. Grandpa Webb called them machines (cause they were to him). Dad hated them said they were a waste of money, etc. Mom didn't learn to drive early in life. Yet most of us have a true appreciation for a great vehicle, including the one Gary is driving in that picture. Those things were a ton of fun! Thanks for the memories Alan
Sue, if dad hated cars so much why did he buy that 1967 Ford station wagon with the 390ci engine? I buried the needle in that thing, over 120mph on 175th street in front of TPHS. That was my first taste of speed, and every car I have ever owned since then I've found out how fast they can go. Amazing I'm still alive. (p.s. this does not include the PT Cruiser.)
Funny, I always thought Dad bought the wagons for their extra windows! I remember the loud chorus' of "I call the window!" whenever we all were going anywhere. The slowest to the car had to sit on the hump. No seatbelts and how many could fit in the "way-back"? I think Sue was the only one injured back there when Dad made a fast stop and she rolled into the window latch. Ah, good times!
