Cloudy and Depressing

This is my mom with her dog Cloud. Cloud had to be put down Thursday because of an incurable kidney failure. When Mom got Cloud she was so worried that she would go before her little puppy did, that she almost didn't take her. Now Mom is 91 and Cloud died at the young age of 9. Every Sunday I call my mom and at some point we start talking about our dogs. I am not looking forward to today's call.
Mom, Cloud, and some fat ass.

  1. Is that really the actual headline of that newspaper she's holding or did you photoshop "unthinkable devastation" there?

  2. That is the real headline. The photo was taken around the end of May, beginning of June in 2007. I cannot find any unthinkably devastating news stories from that time. Maybe they were reporting on the Cubs.

  3. Your phone call is what she looks forward to on Sundays, no matter what. The sad part is to watch her try to hold in her emotions (as she has done all her life) but on Friday when MB and I were getting ready to take Cloud, she let loose. Before I could pick the dog up from the couch, she grabbed her and hugged her tight, kissing her and telling her how much she loved her. I lost it then and everytime I think about it I lose it again. You wouldn't think that someone with 11 kids would ever be lonely but she is and she doesn't know why.

  4. I can't believe it. Mark suggested we move into her spare bedroom and rent out our apartment here. Noooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo....

    But she could move here.

  7. Shw would NEVER move to Florida... don't you remember how much she has always hated the heat and humidity of even a Chicago summer? But you and Mark would do well in her spare bedroom, she keeps the temp in her house around 82 degrees. At least that is about 10 degrees cooler than Pearl keeps her place!

  8. I just blew a gasket today because the air conditioning stopped working and it got up to 82 in the house. I keep it at 73 during the day, and 72 at night. Yes, I can feel that one degree of difference.
